Following the annual analyses carried out by the Vaslui County School Inspectorate on the risk of dropping out of school in Vaslui County, in addition to the causes directly related to the education system (such as overloaded curricula, poor educational styles or rigidity of learning rhythms), socio-familial causes and poor material situation have also become evident as influencing factors.
Specialists of the County Centre for Educational Resources and Assistance says that “a precarious material situation is a common cause of school dropouts. The limited financial resources of many families cannot support schooling and the creation of the necessary conditions for long-term studies”.
Socio-family causes are also often mentioned in their reports, including parents going abroad, lack of family involvement or family disorganization. The same reports mention that “a specific aspect of our county is represented by children whose parents have left to work abroad. It is noted that a significant percentage of school dropouts are due to this phenomenon”.
Although we cannot intervene to combat all the factors that contribute to school drop-out, we focus on the two main causes mentioned above, according to the School Inspectorate’s analysis. By working together, we can help to combat these problems and help children overcome poverty and social exclusion.
In addition to the various actions of our association, which aim to support children’s education, we would like to bring to the public’s attention an ambitious project, which requires a lot of prayer, work and investment, but which is not impossible to achieve. We know that for the God we have, nothing is impossible and, with His help, we have boldly started The Children’s Campus – CASA 2 project. The aim of this project remains the same: to support the education of children suffering from poverty and social exclusion, giving them equal opportunities for a bright future.
Donations for this project will also go towards the purchase of the land, without which we cannot build CASA 2 for disadvantaged children. We are working to obtain this land through various resources offered by the Romanian state and the European Union; we will keep you informed of the progress of this approach.
The campus will have a capacity of 30 children, who will be accommodated throughout the school year. These children will be integrated into the educational units and transport to and from school will be provided. They will also be provided with three meals a day, seasonally appropriate clothing and footwear, medical, psychological and spiritual support.
We did not want to label this campus as a boarding school. When we say the words “children’s boarding school”, we can imagine a cold building with four walls or a place like a sanatorium. However, we would like to stress that the interior and exterior layout of the building has been carefully thought out to be a welcoming and warm place where children will feel at home in no time.
Our goal is to help these children develop a healthy and stable self-image, to understand that they are important, that they have value, that they deserve the best, that God loves them, that they have people who support them and that they can look confidently to the future. Our plans are ambitious, but not impossible, and we are committed to supporting children in the fight against the poverty that threatens their future, whether they choose a pathway to college or to learning a trade.
We will be updating information on this project on a regular basis. Before any material construction, we want to share with you our desire to help children in need of support, with the hope that this desire becomes yours and that you will decide to join this project.
But, until then, in the video below you can see what the CASA 2 Children’s Campus will look like:
