Winter in black and white. Snow and mud. We all know that this season we need to equip our cars with dedicated winter tires. Unless we are irresponsible, want a fine or want to end up with our car in a ditch. Like cars, we humans need to equip ourselves with winter footwear this season. That is, if we don’t want to get our socks wet or slip and fall.
While some worry that they don’t have winter tires on their car and will have to take the bus, many children worry that tomorrow, on their way to school, their feet will have to endure the cold and the water coming in through their worn out shoes, picked up from who knows where. Their parents are no better off. They take three pairs of socks under their rubber boots and go out to work. They must. For their children. For their future. They don’t even care about themselves anymore.
For many, every day is a struggle. A struggle with poverty. With the “I go to school in boots!” campaign, we have set ourselves the goal of not being indifferent to this problem. At least this winter. At least to help a few.
We set out to warm up underprivileged children for the winter, encouraging them to make their way to school this winter, but we also wanted to warm up their parents, to encourage them to keep fighting for their little ones. We gathered information, made a plan, bought new boots, called for volunteers and hit the road.
We have walked the roads of several villages in Vaslui county and we have distributed dozens of pairs of boots to disadvantaged children. Some of their parents also received a pair of boots, donated by a shoe shop in Vaslui. People get involved.

In addition to footwear, bags of food and clothing of various sizes suitable for all members of a family were distributed. We enjoyed their joy. This kept us so warm that we didn’t even feel it when it got late at night. Although we set off early in the morning, the day seemed too short, so we borrowed a few hours of the night to complete what we set out to do. Even though some of the children were already asleep, their parents were more than happy that we thought of them and welcomed us. Some of them even made a point of waking their children, just to experience the momentary joy of receiving a gift.
If some were more joyful, others, in the throes of deprivation and hardship, just smiled. Such are the difficult times of life. It steals our smiles, our joy, it disturbs our hearts and suffocates us with worry and disorientation. However, despite appearances, solutions do exist! They are offered by God himself.
And in order to learn these solutions and to warm their souls, not only their feet, the beneficiary families also received a Bible or a radio with an SD card with the Bible in audio format. No matter what periods of life they are going through, let it serve as a compass. We thank God, we thank the volunteers who gladly got involved in the work and we thank you, people with a heart for people, who have been with us in all our activities. Together we have once again made a difference in the lives of children and people powerless in the face of poverty.
